Caerphilly Challenge Series 2014 - Wild Boar

The hugely successful Caerphilly Challenge Series is back for 2014 with an exciting new series of walks taking place on Saturday 10th May.

This year Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside and Landscape Service, in conjunction with Rhymney Comprehensive School, Caerphilly Adventure Group, Ramblers Cymru and other partners, are once again throwing down a challenge to walkers of all abilities.

From a 1 mile stroll along the banks of the Rhymney River’ to taking up the challenge of the monstrous 22 mile ‘Wild Boar’, there will be a Challenge walk to suit you - no matter how fit you are.

The Challenges:

The 22 mile ‘Wild Boar’ (Self led challenge):
A monster of a route that takes in the hills and commons of Caerphilly County Borough, with superb views of the Bristol Channel and Brecon Beacons. You can walk, jog or run.

The 14 mile route ‘Wild Boar’ (Self led challenge):
A tough endurance test for those who fancy a stern test of stamina, with a route that shows off the glorious countryside of the county.

The 9 mile ‘Ramblers Cymru’ Challenge (Led walk):
A shorter walk that packs a punch! No fear of getting lost on this one, as someone will be leading you all the way. Numbers are limited for this one, so book early to avoid disappointment!

The above challenges are £8 per person (early bird offer until 1st March) and £10 per person thereafter. Under 18's receive a £2 discount, though they must be over 12 and accompanied by an adult in order to take part. Registration for the above challenges will close on the 22nd April 2014.

There is also the 1-5 mile "Lets Walk Challenge" (Led Walk) for those who don't fancy so many hills. This route combines cycle track and local forestry with a range of shorter and flatter led walks from 1-5 miles. This challenge is free, with registration on the day only.
