A guided walk to Llyn y Fan Fach from the car park at the Welsh Water depot at Llanddeusant (01550 798238). The walk will be led by Glyn Evans
Please meet at Llandovery Heritage Centre for departure by car at 9 30am, or at the car park at the Welsh Water depot at 10 00am.
Llyn y Fan Fach is the sacred lake from which emerged the Lady of the Lake, who was to be the mother of the Physicians of Myddfai, and whose story we explored on our walk across Mynydd Myddfai last year.
We will begin by walking the 2 kms or so up to the lake along the track, where
1- we will make a decision about venturing further, and up onto the ridge overlooking the lake.
2- if we do decide to walk up to the ridge, then on reaching the top we will decide whether to return to the car park along the way we came up or by following the Beacons Way down over the moorland of Tyle Gwyn.
We should be back in Llandovery by 2 00pm.
NB1. This second option will mean the need to cross the infant Afon Sychlwch by
means of a small ford opposite the car park.
NB2. For those participants not wishing to go up to the ridge or over the moorland,
then the walk back to the car park is an easy downhill stroll.
NB3. For all participants on this walk, full mountain walking gear is required.
