Organic fleece, wool and textiles - farmed in Brechfa and made in Wales

At the heart of the farm are its flocks of pedigree sheep - two rare traditional breeds together with their cross bred lambs who combine the best of both.

The Wensleydale Longwool provides the finest fleece of all the British native breeds – soft, long, lustrous - and not just white. It is woolcrafting luxury and the ultimate worsted yarn.

The Hill Radnor, a native of East Powys, earned a reputation for producing the finest of the hill breeds fleeces and was highly sought after by traditional woollen mills and weavers – and is today the basis for Ystrad woven throws.

And the black sheep of the family is an especially welcome arrival, making an important contribution - on its own or blended with white, it gives an infinite range of natural shades from soft silver to slate grey to velvet charcoal.

Quality wool is a specialist business and Ystrad has permission from the Wool Marketing Board to process and sell its wool direct. Raw fleece is available from the farm, along with yarns that are spun in Cornwall, as well as locally woven throws.
