Monmouth Womens Festival celebrates women's achievements locally, nationally and internationally

Tickets are on sale for Monmouth Womens Festival – a ten-day celebration of women’s achievements nationally, internationally and within Monmouthshire!

This year’s events kick off on March 4th with the incomparable Pam Ayres at The Savoy Theatre, Monmouth.
On Saturday Monmouth Women's Festival has a new event the Shirehall Showcase - an exhibition of over 40 artists and crafts people in the Shirehall. On Saturday evening Prue Leith will be talking about her rich life as a celebrity chef and her new works of fiction which she will be available to sign and on 6th MWF welcomes author Mavis Nicholson at The Priory.

During the week, literary events include Pascale Petit talking about her poetry inspired by the work of Frida Kahlo over a Mexican lunch and Menna Elfyn giving a bilingual reading of poetry. For keen gardeners Helena Gerrish will be giving a gardening talk at High Glanau Manor accompanied by afternoon tea. Flower arrangers won’t want to miss Emma Webster’s introduction to flower arranging and photographers will be signing up for the digital photography workshop at the library. Last but not least Lindy Wildsmith leads a tutored tasting about curing and there will be a delicious wine tasting dinner at Prego’s for foodies

On the final weekend Saturday 12th, Tricia Stewart (the original Calendar Girl) opens up about her amazing life’s journey plus there will be a screening of the ever popular Calendar Girls film.The full programme includes free workshops on everything from mastering the computer to art appreciation, textiles and genealogy and details of the programme can be found on the website under Events 2011. Tickets can be purchased online through the website or in person from The Nelson Museum Monmouth open Monday – Saturday 11-4pm and Sunday 2pm-4pm
