Honey Bee Beautiful

Our story

Based in the beautiful Welsh countryside, we are an artisan brand committed to creating natural products and sustaining our local honey bee population.

Our founder, Catherine Clark, was inspired to keep bees by her father, soon realising the key role bees play in our ecosystem and the amazing power of ‘raw’ honey which has been used since ancient Greek times to heal the skin.

Catherine gave up a career in law to pursue her love of beekeeping and to create hand-made products using the natural products from the hive.

Whilst her bees are busy gathering nectar and pollen from a Woodland Trust apiary site near Usk, Catherine is busy making premium quality products which soften and heal the skin.

Our natural skincare range has the added power to relax, uplift, and soothe the senses thanks to its pure essential oils.

At HBB, we only use ‘Raw Welsh Honey'. 'Raw' honey is not heated to high temperatures or micro filtered, thereby retaining all of it's natural vitamins, enzymes and pollens to help nourish and heal the skin.

We also only use 'Beeswax Cappings'. The cappings are the wax made and used by the bees to seal the honey comb containing honey stores. It’s the purest form of beeswax with no possible chemical residue which might be present in other beeswax where the bees have needed treatment for disease.

Propolis is used by bees to sterilise their hives. It’s made from buds and sap of trees and is a potent antiseptic and natural anti-inflammatory. It also contains minerals like magnesium and zinc which help skin regenerate.

Both honey and beeswax attract moisture and lock it in and the beeswax acts as a natural breathable barrier protecting the skin from damaging environmental factors such as sunlight, pollution, harsh weather and moisture loss.

We use absolutely no chemicals, parabens, petroleum based products, lanolin, SLS or synthetic ingredients in our products.

As a result of the above, our range is particularly good for for sensitive, dry and problem skins like eczema and psoriasis.

Honey Bee Beautiful is soon to feature on the internationally successful BBC2 series, Escape to the Country, where you can see Catherine beekeeping and making natural products from the hive.
