Elin Siân Blake

Elin Siân was born and raised in the South Wales valleys. Coming from a family with a strong agricultural history she regularly visited farms and country shows, and at the age of six learned to ride the Welsh ponies which feature largely in her work.

Elin gained her first Welsh cob commission at the age of eleven. She later studied graphic design at the University of Glamorgan, where she graduated in 2002. Since then she has pursued a career in Fine Art, developing her own unique style. Her favourite subjects are Welsh cobs and mountain ponies, as well as the beautiful Welsh rural landscape. Having spent a brief spell in Cardiff she once again yearned for the country life and so took to the road in a converted Bedford horse lorry, travelling the length and breadth of Wales, and painting the landscape, characters and livestock she encountered along the way.

Now settled in Abergavenny with her young family, she is now a full time artist and still rides whenever possible. Elin was has been fortunate enough to exhibit art at London’s prestigious Mall Galleries for the last two years, and has since exhibited locally with great success. Her art work is held in collections across Europe, Australia and the United States.

Four of Elin's circus horse paintings were recently published in Dr. Robert Fountain's book 'The Art of the Traditional Circus' which was launched at the James Harvey Gallery in Chelsea in November 2011.
