David Young

David Young nowadays mostly paints landscapes, usually in acrylics on canvass or board He is also a printmaker.

My work consists mostly of landscapes, in particular from South Wales, usually Gower and Pembrokeshire. I used to use watercolours but nowadays acrylics have taken over and among other things I do larger paintings attempting a freer style sometimes with an abstract character. I am a member fo the Wye Valley Art Society.

Printmaking is also a recently acquired interest. This is as a result of attending a course where collagraphs, drypoints, etchings, linocuts and screenprints have been on the syllabus. The range of technical possibilities is intriguing and I am still finding out what can be done. It is a source of astonishing delight.

These pictures top to bottom are:
A Tintern WIndow, acrylic on paper
Carn Llidi, Pembrokeshire, acrylic on canvas
The Roman Bridge, Afon Machno, watercolour
Elegy in a Country Churchyard, acrylic on board
Rhossili Cliffs, mixed media
The Knave, acrylic on canvas
Llanbadoc Church, screenprint
