Le Bel Ombre

Susie’s jewellery is made from dichroic glass, developed for optical instruments in NASA programmes. Each piece is made by cutting and layering dichroic and other specialist imported and coloured glasses, before firing in a kiln at about 820°C. The position in the kiln, the temperature and type of glass used all affect the outcome, ensuring that no two pieces are identical.

Susie can influence the finished pieces through combinations of glass, colours, shapes and heat treatment but there is always the excitement of unexpected transformation; pieces often have a structure and depth that are reminiscent of nature.

Susie’s jewellery is finished with Italian silver chains, or leather; earrings are made with surgical steel overlaid with sterling silver. Enjoy wearing a unique piece of handmade jewellery!
