Castle Square -Y Maes

The dramatic open Square is the heart of the town, with streets branching off in all directions and great vistas of the imposing castle at its West end.

Spend a leisurely hour people watching while sitting outside one of several cafès and bars dotted around the Square - locally called Y Maes, which literally translated means 'field.' Today, you won't find any grass on Y Maes, instead it is surfaced with local slate and stone.
