Sponsorship and Thank Yous

DIOLCH YN FAWR!

2010 was the inaugral Llandovery Sheep Festival - an event inspired by the workshops held by the Llandovery & District Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Collabor8 project run by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, in order to set up a Sustainable Tourism Action Plan for the town by developing a unique identity and brand.

The themes of Sheep and Wool are intertwined in our history and culture and this, together with the launch of the Wool Project earlier this year by HRH the Prince of Wales, we hope will help towards boosting the economic sustainablity of our town and its surrounding area.

A special big thank you to HRH the Prince of Wales for taking such a keen interest in the festival and our town, now TRH's Royal Home in Wales. A few days before the 2010 Festival it was announced that HRH had accepted to be the Patron of the Llandovery Sheep Festival. What an honour for our community and a huge tribute to the enthusiasm and love we have for our home.

Our main sponsors for 2011 are:

Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (Collabor8 Project)

Lloyds Bank - Agriculture

Llandovery Town Council

The Llandovery Sheep Festival also runs in association with The Wool Campaign - an initiative of The Prince of Wales

Our sponsors in 2010 were:
Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (Collabor8 Project)

Barclays Bank - donation to ensure the hire of the marquee and flooring

Lloyds Bank - donation of the Lloyds Bank Trophy for the Main sheep dog trial competition plus a donation towards the marquee costs

Llandovery & District Chamber of Commerce

Annonymous - donation of the apGgruffydd Trophy for the second sheep dog trial competition

A couple of weeks before the Festival we also found out that we were successful in a grant application from Carmarthenshire County Council - Axis 3 Rural Development Grant. This was used immediately to buy sail flags, bunting and radios for use at this and future events for the town. Also approved were the purchase of a projector and screen and pa system but we are awaiting cash input before we can go ahead with these. With a grant such as this payment for approved items has to be made before any money is reimbursed. In order to benefit and make use of the grant a few "angels" stepped in to assist with the cash flow dilemma. They wish to remain anonymous but their contributions were a vital factor in the success of the event. Diolch yn fawr iawn.

There are many to thank but included are:

Mayor and Mayoress, Nigel and Dorothy Burgess who are intrinsically involved
Carmarthenshire County Council - advice and assistance
Menter Bro Dinefwr - advice and assistance
