The Co-operative is stepping up its support for Welsh suppliers and investing in the local economy by forging a new link with local firm Bachledre Watermill.

This is the first time The Co-operative has worked with the Churchstoke-based business, which is supplying selected Co-operative stores with some of its finest flours.

The move comes as part of The Co-operative’s latest drive to strengthen its commitment to local sourcing by taking on 15 new suppliers from across the country and introducing more than 60 products into its Welsh Favourites range.

Bacheldre Watermill owner Matt Scott said: “We are delighted to be working with The Co-operative to supply it with Bacheldre Watermill Organic Flours. We feel The Co-operative is an ethically correct business with like-minded customers who will enjoy our products. This will be a great boost to our brand and business and will ensure more secure jobs in the future.”

As well as extending its range, The Co-operative will be the first supermarket retailer in Wales to promote the new products in both Welsh and English on in-store radio.
