Simple Elegant Meals with Black Mountains Smokery

Run by husband and wife team, Jonathan and Jo Carthew, Black Mountains Smokery has produced an award-winning and sustainable range of traditional smoked produce – including smoked salmon, sea trout, meats, duck and poultry.

That’s why we at Food Adventure are pretty chuffed to offer you a Masterclass, featuring their award winning smoked produce, at their home; a beautiful 16th century Welsh Long House just outside of Crickhowell. You will learn how to use Black Mountains’ produce to make simple, seasonal and elegant meals for a dinner party or a quick weekday suppe

The Masterclass will be taught by private chef, Sarah Lee and will combine a cooking demonstration with some hands on experience. Sarah has cooked professionally for more than 40 years. While she’s comfortable catering for corporate events and private functions – her client list includes high sheriffs, lord lieutenants and celebrities – she’s really passionate about sharing her knowledge on using simple local and seasonal ingredients to make special meals. You will learn how to make fabulous meals and get some simple practical tips on how to present them beautifully.

The Masterclass with Smokery Tour will run from 10:30 to 3:00. You are invited to arrive at 10:00 for tea coffee and biscuits before we get started. The course takes place in the home of Jonathan and Jo Carthew just outside of Crickhowell which is about 45 minutes outside of Cardiff and 15 minutes from Abergavenny. A detailed map and directions will be sent once you book.
