The Widders Border Morris and friends invite you all to join us in an extraordinary and unique annual event in Chepstow. The Wassail and the Mari Lwyd are ancient customs from England and Wales, celebrated on or around New Year in an effort to raise spirits and look forward to a good and prosperous year ahead. It is attended by hundreds of people from all over the country.
The Chepstow Wassail Mari Lwyd is a very popular annual event combining the mainly English tradition of Wassailing, the Welsh Mari Lwyd tradition, plus a unique social meeting of the English and Welsh on the Welsh/English border (The river Wye bridge) There is also Morris dancing and a Country Dance Ceilidh.The event is hosted by The Widders Welsh Border Morris, the local team and supported by Monmouthshire County Council, Chepstow Town Council, Chepstow Acoustic Music Club, Glosfolk and the good people of Chepstow and abroad.
