National Storytelling Week at Raglan Castle

A celebration of Wales's oral traditions, held across fifteen Cadw sites

Wales is renowned worldwide for its literature and poetry, and this winter you will be able to experience the best of Welsh tale spinning. In conjunction with National Storytelling Week, Cadw invites you to join a storyteller at one of fifteen sites across the country to celebrate Wales’s oral heritage.

Stories are all around us — in books and newspapers and on the Web and TV. They are much more than just children’s bedtime stories. They are entangled with the oldest layers of our culture and are one of our most ancient art forms. Stories are part of the way in which we understand and experience our worlds. True storytelling happens when the story is told in person, live and without print or technology.

Listen to stories based on historical characters, legends and myths from across Wales during National Storytelling Week this January.Join us for a Welsh-inspired story at one of our participating sites:

Each story can last up to 30 minutes. No booking required.
