Poetry this December is back to the usual Saturday evening! So the usual day and the usual fantastic line up of two great poets, Roger McGough & Clare Potter.
ROGER MCGOUGH
One of Britain's best known and loved poets, Roger McGough has been succesful for 5 decades, penning such hits as 'Lily the Pink' as a member of The Scaffold and writing much of the dialogue for the Beatles film 'Yellow Submarine'. He will be here in Chepstow reciting poems from his latest collection 'That Awkward Age'.
'the patron saint of poetry' - Carol Ann Duffy
He is a true original and more than one generation would be much the poorer without him - The Times
'Liverpool's own Poet Laureate' - Daily Post
CLARE POTTER
Clare has extensive experience both in Wales (Blackwood born) and the USA (MA in Afro-Caribbean literature from New Orleans). Clare was awarded the Cardiff 2005 Future Focus bursary and spent it returning to New Orleans to write poems for Spilling Histories (Cinnamon, 2006), which is her first collection and inspired by the aftermath of the New Orleans disaster. Spilling Histories (Cinnamon, 2006) was launched in Cardiff in November, 2006.
Join us then for an autumnal feast of imagery and ideas as two brilliant speakers of their poems come together for an evening of elegant, emotional and frankly delicious poetry.
