This years Folk on the Lawn, set again in the beautiful grounds of Abbey Mill, Tintern, will be the biggest and broadest yet. Over 25 performers will be there, from across Wales and England, and from Ireland, the United States and Germany also.
Amazingly, for such a small festival, it has featured (and looks as if it will continue to do so) a number of international artists and signed bands, in addition to the Welsh, English and very local talent that has graced its stages. This, we feel, is in part due to folks committing due to the beauty of the setting, the atmosphere of the event (very relaxed!) and the magnanimous hosting of the Abbey Mill management and staff.
The 'genre' we encourage is the rootsy, the homespun, the innovative, the chance-taking but within a basic folk/roots/acoustic format. We would see the festival as the antithesis of and remedy for the X Factor, 'tired folk' sort-of-thing.
