Brecon Arts Week reaches its third year, and a treasure chest of exhibitions, events, demonstrations and music will keep half-term visitors to the town very busy.
The festival will begin with a very special exhibition of contemporary Chinese ceramics and paintings, titled Harmony, at Theatr Brycheiniog, followed by fantasy mask-making, design your own dragon, and a find-the-artwork treasure hunt every day of the festival. Two local art lovers, Mr and Mrs Scott-Archer, will be opening their town-centre home for visitors to view the art collection and enjoy home-cooked food.
Visitors will be invited to take part in events such as the Big Draw at Brecon Library, Berets and Easels throughout the town, stained glass workshops at the Tithebarn, biscuit and chocolate making at Pilgrims restaurant, both of which are located in the Cathedral Close. Local artists will demonstrate their skills in town centre galleries, and art will be displayed in shop windows.
At the Cathedral, well worth a visit in its own right, there will be exhibitions of art created by the local Gurkha community, and fantasy mask-making workshops.
Brecon Arts Week runs from 27th October to 4th November, at venues throughout the town centre. Most events are free, but some, such as the workshops, need to be booked in advance and there is a small fee for participants. Brochures will be available from galleries, shops, cafes and all venues.
