Brecon Baroque Festival 2011

Brecon Baroque Festival

Inspired by the Georgian architectural heritage of Brecon, this five-day event features outstanding international performers. Artistic director Rachel Podger, one of the world’s leading players of the Baroque violin, and the resident ensemble Brecon Baroque, all distinguished performers in their own right, again provide a substantial part of the programme. Visiting artists include the popular Welsh soprano Elin Manahan Thomas and a rising star from Wales, Sian Winstanley. The acclaimed young ensemble from Switzerland, Meridiana, will be making their debut at the festival, as will the Welsh Baroque Orchestra under their leader Andrew Wilson-Dickson. Dance again features strongly in 2011 with a newly choreographed work by local dancer Katy Sinnadurai as well as the ever popular Baroque Ball. Works by JS Bach are again at the heart of the programme but Vivaldi is featured in the closing concert.
