Wernddu Wine & Vineyards

At Wernddu the whole wine-producing process, from growing, to fermenting and bottling is carried out by the Strawford's at their vineyard.

In April 1999 the Strawford family moved to Wernddu Farm near Monmouth. Planting began in 2002 with 200 Reichensteiner white grape variety, which have successfully been harvested in 2005 and are now available. Two thousand vines in total have been planted to date, which include Red and White varieties.

The Strawford’s were very much in favour of working with nature and so decided to grow organically, and in September 2004 registered with the Soil Association. Wernddu accepts its responsibility to the environment and have been awarded Level 2 of the Green Dragon standard in 2005 and 2006.

At Wernddu the whole wine-producing process, from growing, to fermenting and bottling is carried out by the Strawford’s at their vineyard.

Welsh Perry and Cider also produced by Wernddu are now available. Vineyard tours by appointment.
