Hapus Real Diary Ice Cream Parlour is situated in a beautiful location with stunning views. The visitor centre is cosy and family friendly with a large 'parlour' selling homemade ice cream, sundaes, teas and coffees. There's a children's play area, sculpture walk and seasonal activities.

We are now open every single day from 10am to 6pm so there's even more chance to enjoy our scrummy ice cream! We also sell coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cakes, and all the sprinkles, sauces and flakes you could wish for. Also local farm produce like eggs and chutney is available in the parlour shop. Come along and visit us, enjoy the views - and the ice cream! We also can now host a wide variety of children's parties - more details are available on our web site!
The background...
Sian and Richard Powell officially started trading as 'Hapus Real Diary Ice Cream' in May 2008. Although locals may know the ice cream as ‘Minolis of Machen’, which it was called when Sian's parents, Sue and Lewis Richards were running the business. The Powell's have since opened a small parlour and visitor centre, on the farm in Machen, right next to the factory where the ice cream is made. The farm is built into the mountain overlooking the valley; it is a beautiful location with stunning views. There are many beautiful country walks close by, including one public footpath on the farm itself. They are a very family friendly venue, with three small children of their own they have to be!
Where to buy Hapus Ice-Cream...
During the winter you will need to visit us at the farm in order to buy our ice cream. During the summer months on warm days you can find our Hapus unit at the rear of Caerphilly Castle in Daffydd Williams Park. We also attend lots of local events in our area, during summer 2012 you will see us at many events including The Taste of Caerphilly Weekend in May and The Big Cheese in July. We previously attended Rudry Summer Fair, Out of the Woods Festival in Bute park, The Global Village Festival in Merthyr, The Filifest, or The Flower Festival in Caerphilly to name but a few.
If you are organsing any event in the local area; school or church fete, fundraising event or villge farye and would like to have our icecream there, we would love to hear from you, please do get in touch.
