Located in Senghenydd the Memorial Garden commemorates all those in Wales who lost their lives as a result of the coal industry. Every Colliery disaster is remembered on a series of ceramic paviers as part of a ‘Pathway of Memory’ around the garden. A Memorial Wall commemorates all the lives lost at the Universal Colliery in both the 1901 and the 1913 disasters (the 1913 disaster being Britain’s largest mining disaster in which 440 men and boys lost their lives). A bronze sculpture of a miner rescuing his colleague also forms the centrepiece to the Garden.

Aber Valley Heritage Museum is located a short distance from the National Memorial. For more information click here.
