The Wales Experience at Abergavenny

Ty'r Morwydd Environmental Study Centre has provided advanced level and KS2, KS3, KS4 field work opportunities to students from across the UK for over 30 years. We provide classrooms, full tuition, trips to a range of sites to undertake curriculum-focussed fieldwork to help attainment with Geography, Biology and Environmental Science. As we can comfortably accommodate up to 77 in a range of single, twin and four bedded rooms (with home cooking) schools often use us for year group study weeks prior to exams.

We offer a large environmental Libary and Digital Media Centre with Electronic Whiteboard facilities.

We are situated on the outskirts of the market town of Abergavenny which affords good railway links to Cardiff, Bristol and Hereford and a local bus station. We are also only 25 minutes drive from the M4 corridor.

The local shops, pubs and restaurants are only 2 minutes walk away and we offer FREE private on-site parking for up to 30 vehicles. There is a theatre, museum and lots of other lovely attractions in the town. We are based in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park and are 20 minutes from the Wye Valley.

Our fieldtrips (available now as day or full residential) have been updated to accommodate the specifications of the NEW curriculum specifications for 2008. Ask our teachers for details.

where education groups, businesses and the public can find information on environmental field studies, 3-Star Visit Wales accredited accommodation and conference/meeting venues.

In 2007 Mulberry House (Ty'r Morwydd in Welsh) was awarded the Level 4 Green Dragon Award for sustainable environmental practices.

Mulberry House was a finalist in the 2007 Wales National Tourism Awards and Val Snell, their wonderful housekeeper, was nominated for the Extra Mile award.

Mulberry House is pleased to announce its partnership with the Youth Hostel Association as an independent enterprise hostel now known as YHA Abergavenny where accommodation bookings can now be made online (www.yha.org.uk). A launch event was held on 18th January with local historian and publisher, Chris Barber, CBE.
