Castle Hotel

The Castle Hotel, an old coaching inn, stands on the site of a Cistercian abbey and used to consist of two famous hostelries, The Castle and the 15th Century King's Head. The Castle was by far the larger and in Victorian times had an attractive face lift of local granite and Ruabon brick and is now one of Conwy's most photographed buildings.

The Hotel has had a fascinating past and has made an important contribution to Conwy's history, playing host to many famous people, such as Telford, Stephenson, Wordsworth and the Queen of Romania who lunched in the restaurant whilst visiting Llandudno. In the 20th Century, the ownership of the Hotel was almost exclusively by London based companies and it's fitting that this wonderful old hotel reverted back to private ownership in the summer of 2000.

Since then, the famous old hostelry has had several major upgrades and improvements and now sits proudly once again in the middle of the town and the hub of the local community. The style is now relaxed and comfortable in a more contemporary environment, but still smacks of heritage, with characterful nooks and crannies and creaky floors to add to the atmosphere!

The hotels 28 bedrooms to AA and Visit Wales exacting 4 Star Town House standards with a 'boutiquey' feel. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel, including the newly improved Dawsons Bar and new Courtyard.

Room prices vary depending on size and type of room. There are Club, Premium, Deluxe and a Deluxe Suite to choose from.

Fabulous local Welsh produce is always served with a flair and friendliness befitting their byline, 'Friendly Tradition in Historical Surroundings.
