Located within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Pwll Du Adventure Centre is situated amidst spectacular scenery on the Blorenge Gilwern upland. The valley falls away steeply at the rear of the centre giving magnificent views of the surrounding area.

Set within the Blaenavon World Heritage Site, which is steeped in local coal and iron mining history, you can walk directly onto the Hill's Tramroad, connecting the iron works of Blaenavon to the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.

What Can You Do?

Loads of fun activities Nearby are cliffs for climbing and abseiling; "Ogof Draenen", the second largest cave system in the Britain; and the Blorenge mountain for hang and paragliding. Also nearby is Wales's highest pub, the Lamb and Fox inn which is open all the year round providing local beers and food.

These days with attractions like the Big Pit mining museum, Blaenavon Ironworks and the recently opened interpretation centre the area is providing additional local points of interest for the visitor.

With up to 24 bed spaces in 7 bedrooms and in its own 0.4 hectare area suitable for camping, the Centre is used for groups of friends, extended families, and as a base for a wide variety of activities for both youth groups and adults.

Recently modernised with improved disabled access and facilities, it is an ideal base for all ages and needs.

The recently renovated accommodation at the Centre has been designed to cater for large groups or extended families.

Bunk Bed at Pwll Du A modern fully equipped self-catering kitchen, makes catering for yourself easy and enjoyable. The kitchen is large and fully equipped to commercial standards, with two sinks, a six ring cooker with double oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster, as well as all the pots, pans and crockery and storage you will need.

The dining area is large enough to allow your group to all sit down together to enjoy the results of your labour in comfort and style. There are tables, benches and a fire area in the grounds for parties.


Full central heating throughout the Centre with individual thermostatic controls for each room ensures you can always determine the temperature inside if not outside.

An instant water heater provides plenty of piping hot water.

Two less abled bathrooms providing shower, toilet and hand basins are provided plus an additional two separate showers, toilets and hand basins.

Drying room which allows you to at least start the day dry!

Large outdoor wash-down area for bikes and muddy children.

Internal storage for visitor's equipment and kit.

Base yourself at the Centre for an activity weekend filled with walking, biking, rock climbing, caving and much more.
