Hiraeth Bunkhouse

Our 20 bed bunkhouse is the perfect venue whether you are looking for an activity-packed break or a quiet retreat… Families, individuals and groups - all are welcome!

Originally a woollen mill, Hiraeth has been converted into a twenty bed bunkhouse on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons. Opened July 2012. River fronted and set in six acres, you will have use of a playing field, a bonfire and BBQ site and a small woodland area, shortly to house a low ropes course.

There is a very well equipped kitchen catering for large and small groups, while the wetrooms are worthy of any five star hotel with constant hot water. Bright and attractive bunk rooms sleep 9, 3,4 and 4 with under bed storage.

After a day out you’ll find a good drying room for boots, waterproofs etc.
If you take advantage of the terrific routes in Brechfa Forest, we have a washdown area with a pressure hose and a secure bike lock up.

The whole building is fully certified with smoke and fire alarms. Corridor lighting is automatically triggered by any movement.

The whole property is a non-smoking zone.

We have tried to cover all bases to make you stay with us as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. So whatever your activity, or if you just want to come to a retreat, whether you’re a Church youth group or house group, you’ll be very welcome. It’s beautiful here!

Heating and Cooking Facilities: Underfloor heating downstairs, radiators upstairs.
Seven ring hob, grill, two ovens and plate warming drawer. Microwave oven. Toaster.Filter coffee machine. Automatic hot water boiler. Fridge/freezer.

• The beautiful Western Beacons less used than the Central Beacons offers spectacular views and good walking. Within easy reach you’ll find rockclimbing, horse riding and fabulous caving at Porth yr Ogof. Coastal walking, surfing and coasteering on the beautiful Gower and in Pembrokeshire. Mountain biking at the excellent Brechfa Forest just 20 minutes away.
• There are around seventeen castles in the area. Bog snorkelling at Llanwrtyd Wells. Red kites are constantly flying over the bunkhouse and an unlimited number of beauty spots for those who want to spend a few quiet days away painting or drawing.
