Wonderful views from the house, lots of local walks and great for mountain-biking, pony-trekking and lots more.
Hay-on Wye is 12 miles along the beautiful Wye Valley with its famous Book Festival held in early June. Brecon has its Jazz Festival in August and is 6 miles from us. Builth Wells hosts the Royal Welsh Show in late July and is 19 miles away. Close by we have water sports and pony trekking at Llangorse Lake and the newly opened and working water mill 5 minutes away in Talgarth.
Newhouse, recently rated 4 star quality by Visit Wales, has one double bedroom and en-suite bathroom and shower, all to a modern standard.
Breakfast is the usual full Welsh/English served with our own home-made bread and local produce. We can accommodate most personal preferences by prior arrangement.
The surrounding countryside provides many walks and opportunities for mountain-biking and cycling. Your bikes can be stored securely and a wash-down facility is available. There is plenty of room for parking.
A wi-fi connection is available with very reasonable broadband speeds.
"Newhouse" is on a quiet, unclassified lane, one mile from the village of Llanfihangel Talyllyn and 4 miles from Talgarth.
From Abergavenny take the A40 towards Brecon. In the village of Bwlch turn right onto the B4560, signed Llangorse, Lake and Activity Centre. Follow the road through Llangorse village and turn first left after the Red Lion Inn, sign-posted Llanfihangel Tal-y-Llyn and Brecon. Travel just over 1 mile to reach the village of Llanfihangel Talyllyn. Do not take the sharp left hand bend over the bridge at the start of the village; instead turn sharp right onto the unclassified road. Take this road for exactly one mile and this will bring you to Newhouse, a stone cottage on the left hand side of the road. Turn into the second timber gateway, just past the house.
From Brecon take the A40 dual-carriageway from the roundabout just west of Brecon and after a few minutes turn first left onto the B4558, signed for Llangorse. At the T junction turn right and take the first right, signed for Llanfihangel and Llangorse. Travel for 2.5 miles to Llanfihangel Talyllyn and at the end of the main village street continue north on an unclassified single-track road for a further one mile (do not take the right hand turn to Llangorse). This will bring you to Newhouse, a stone cottage on the left hand side of the road. Turn into the second timber gateway, just past the house where there is ample parking.
