Accommodation

Home-from-home comfort overlooking the sea.

Royal Oak Cottage is steeped in history, once a drinking Tavern with adjoining landlord accommodation. Entering the cottage, the open-plan lounge and dining room are situated where the fishermen would once have sat, supping their ale.

The exposed beams and low ceilings may leave those who are less vertically challenged with a slight stoop! Many original features have been exposed during the restoration, taking you back centuries.

With a comfy leather corner-sofa, the lounge is a place to relax in front of the inglenook fireplace with a traditional cast iron stove.

There is a less traditional flat screen TV with FreeSat available and you are welcome to bring your own viewing card to access additional channels, though you will not be able to view premium channels unless the card is registered to the viewing box.

A DVD player and stereo system with Ipod docking station are also available for your entertainment as is complimentary WiFi.

The dining area is in the same open-plan layout as the lounge and comfortable seats eight and has views over Conwy harbour and features a slate and stone feature fireplace. Slate place mats and coasters add to the rustic feel.

Up the stairs, on the first floor, to the back of the house you will find the bathroom and shower-room.

The bathroom has a bath with a low-level shower attachment and an over-bath shower, toilet and sink with a mirrored storage cupboard.

The shower-room has large recessed shower with a traditional large shower head and diverter.

Both the shower-room and bathroom have tiled floors, heated towel rails and come with hand towels, bath mats, toilet rolls and hand soap. There is plenty of shelf space for you to store your own toiletries.

In the bedrooms there will be bath sheets and hand towels for each guest. If you require additional towels for the beach etc., please remember to bring your own.

Up a couple more stairs and to the front of the house, over-looking the harbour you will find the double and king size bedrooms.

On the right, the double bedroom is bright and welcoming, with exposed beams, window lintel and a feature fireplace. You will find a dressing table and mirror, and a chest of drawers and clothes rail for your hanging items and shoes.

On the left is the king size bedroom, again boasting exposed breams and lintel and a feature fireplace, dressing table, chest of drawers and wardrobe. There is also a travel cost available - please make us aware of your requirements at time of booking.

In both rooms there are two bedside tables with lamps and plenty of room under the brass-framed beds for your suitcases. The firm but exceptionally comfy mattresses will almost guarantee you a perfect night's sleep. And when you wake, just draw back the curtains for a view of the sea, boats and ancient town walls.

Continuing your journey up the stairs, you arrive on the upper landing. With two leather armchairs, a reading lamp and plenty of books, this is where you may enjoy some quiet time away from the rest of the group if you choose. Feel free to borrow a book and don't worry if you don't finish it, you can take it with you. All we ask is that you leave one that you have read in its place.

Like the ceilings in places, the banister on the upper landing is rather low - this is not a place for young children to play unsupervised.

There are two twin bedrooms situated under the eaves on this floor. With tonnes of character, exposed beams and sloping ceilings (make sure your duck!). Each has full-size twin beds with the same quality, firm but comfy mattresses, two bedside tables with reading lamps, a chest of drawers and clothes hanging rail and room under the beds for any luggage.

Last but not least we have the kitchen. This is the only area that was not fully renovated by ourselves but it comes fully equipped with fridge, freezer, twin-oven and grill, hob, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle, microwave.

There is plenty of crockery and cutlery, glasses, pots, pans, roasting trays, etc. - everything you would find at home.

Also provided, an iron and ironing board, clothes airer, mop and brush, vacuum cleaner and dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid and sponge and surface cleaners and tea towels. You will need washing powder if you plan to wash any of your clothes during your stay and your food supplies - you could always use a home delivery service, timed for your arrival. Waitrose, Asda and Tesco all offer home delivery in the area, however there are a large number of supermarkets within a 6 mile radius and a local Spar shop a few minutes walk in Conwy town itself.

Perfectly situated in Conwy town and accessible with or without a car. Parking is available in a small car park 20 meters away.
