Cefn Coed is a historic Welsh farm property with origins dating back to the 17th century. We are Situated 4 miles from Dolgellau in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, enjoying an idyllic setting in a sheltered valley of Ancient Oak Woodland, where Cader Idris rolls down into the Mawddach Estuary. Miles of walking, cycling and riding paths are easily accessible from the property including the Mawddach Trail . The property is family owned and we have recently reopened our newly refurbished

The property is almost a mile from the nearest neighbour and a quarter of a mile from the main road ensuring a high degree of privacy, the ideal venue for large parties of family or friends

Walking

There are many paths and trails around the area including the neighbouring Abergwynant woods, the Precipice and Torrent walks of Dolgellau and Cadair Idris, Wales' highest mountain outside the Snowdon range

Mountain Biking serious!

We are fortunate to have world class Mountain Biking facilities very close by, with a range of trails suitable for families and also the serious enthusiast.

Riding/ Pony Trekking

If you would like to bring your own horse, please contact us to discuss livery arrangements.

Pony trekking along Fairbourne Beach is available at Bwlch Gwyn Farm(3 miles)

Sailing

With a fantastic coastline and some beautiful inland water, the area around Dolgellau provides a variety of sailing venues to suit all abilities. Plenty of space on site to park your boat.

Fishing

Lynn Jericho is a five minute woodland walk from Cefn Coed, license for this and Abergwynant RIver, which runs through the property, are available from our neighbours at Abergwynant Farm.

Places to visit

Harlech (20 miles) and Criccieth (32 miles) castles Built by Edward I, the English King.

Castel Y Bere (18 miles) built by the Welsh Prince Llywelyn the Great in the 13th century.

Cymer Abbey (4 miles) ruin of a Cistercian abbey founded in 1198-9.

ST.Celynin's Llangelynin medieval church( 9 miles)

BRONZE BELL SHIPWRECK EXHIBITION Ty Gwyn Museum (above Davy Jones' Locker),The Quay, Barmouth. Tells the story of the nearby wreck of 1709, and of the salvage operation. Complete with surprisingly well preserved relics.
