Glyn Shepherd's hut was built by Plankridge Dorset hutmakers to a very high standard. Plankridge are faithful to the spirit of the classic shepherd's huts described by Thomas Hardy.
Many years ago shepherd's often lived out with their flocks. They worked especially hard during lambing season. The full time attendance could go on for weeks. The huts gave Shepherd's and their dogs shelter, somewhere to eat and sleep, stay warm, and to avoid the harsh weather.

Primitive Shepherd's huts can be traced back centuries. But it was only after the invention of corrugated iron in 1828 that they evolved the classic shape and size that is so loved today.
On the modern day hut corrugated iron is an unmistakable sign of authenticity. Changes in agriculture meant that hut making declined in the 20th century. But since 2000 the craft has been revitalised by Plankridge founders Richard Lee and Jane Dennison. We drove to Dorset to visit and sat for quite a while discussing this Luxurious Glyn Shepherd's hut and Plankridge certainly didn't disappoint. It has all the comfort and convenience of a small cottage and yet it's a Shepherd's hut. Something a little different and the perfect place to stay and explore all that Snowdonia has to offer.

If you're tired and need a break, visit Snowdonia and you'll be breathless standing still.
