Situated in Trefriw, in the Snowdonia National Park, is the intriguingly titled Fairy Falls Inn.
The Snowdonia National Park covers 823 square miles of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside in North Wales. It is an area where people live and work but also where thousands come to relax and enjoy a wide range of leisure activities.
The falls running through the heart of the village were formed during the last ice age some 20,000 years ago when the main Conwy Valley was gouged out into its current U-shape by a glacier. As the glacier moved down the valley towards the sea at Conwy, it cut off the bottom of the tributary valley leaving the River Crafnant to cascade down over the falls that you see today.
In summer, the falls are often reduced to a trickle as water is diverted to create electricity in the woollen mill below.
In winter, it is often a different scene with torrents of water pounding down and slowly eroding the rocks at the bottom of the falls to form deep plunge pools.
A popular local inn with residents keen to enjoy an impressive range of real ales as well as the facilities of the function suite for group events and celebrations, the Fairy Falls Inn has a natural lure for tourists to this region of impressive natural beauty in the form of six attractive en-suite guest bedrooms.
Quiet and detached from the main building, three of these rooms have the further advantage of being situated at ground floor level.
The inn is open daily between 4:00pm and 11:00pm Monday to Wednesday, 12:00pm and 12:00 Thursday to Saturday and 12:00pm to 10:30pm on Sundays.
The well stocked bar includes a range of real ales such as Flowers IPA, Golden Sheep, Hobgoblin and other guest ales. Meals are served in the pub between opening time and 9:00pm.
A carvery is available on Sundays between 12 noon and 3.00pm and food and drink may be enjoyed either in the function room, in the bar or seated at the riverside tables outside. Locally sourced produce and fresh local vegetables are well evidenced in their preparation of meals for your delight
Guests staying at the Fairy Falls Inn will be impressed by the standard of their en-suite rooms which include colour television, beverage making facilities and central heating. An iron, ironing board and packed lunches are available on request.
Situated in a detached motel style block, away from the pub building, three of these rooms are at ground floor level and the remaining rooms have balustrades. With just six in total, advance booking is advised if at all possible.
The Function Suite is the icing on the (fairy) cake at the Fairy Falls Inn and with a music and dance licence and a capacity of up to 120, this self contained area is a popular venue locally for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, engagements etc.
