The Dragons Back B&B

The Dragons Back is situated in the heart of the Black Mountains, at over 1000 ft above sea level it is the highest pub in the Brecon Beacons. The Inn takes it's name from Castell Dinas, an iron age fort on the hilltop behind the pub. The Castle Inn was built over 300 years ago and was originally a Hill farm . The Inn is set in stunning scenery and you can go on many beautiful walks and breathtaking rides straight from the door.

We have very flexible accommodation, with B&B rooms for 10, bunkhouses for a total of 28 and camping for approx 50.

We pride ourselves on providing a good variety of local well kept real ales, and excellent home cooked food at reasonable prices.

All this in a warm cosey atmosphere with a very large & lovely log fire.

We have four B&B rooms available, a twin,
a double, a double/twin - these are all en-suite, and
finally a family room with it's own private bathroom, this room can be shared by up to 4 people, for as little as £24 pp per night B&B.
All our rooms have freeview tv and coffee/tea making facillities.

We have 3 bunk rooms, a 6/10 and 12 bed room.
They are centrally heated and have their own
wet rooms . These rooms are subject to minimum
numbers and used for sole occupancy.

Finally we have a small campsite, with toilets &
a free hot shower plus a Shepherds hut for hire.

Our facillities include a drying room &secure storage for mountain bikes. Inside the pub we have a pool table, dart board, and selection of board games. We also have a 50 inch plasma tv to watch those special sporting moments.

We cater for singles, couples and groups up to 70 in number.

The Inn's location means that a huge array of outdoor activities are available from hiking to biking and from kayaking to gliding.

We are ideally placed for touring the area, approx ten minutes drive from Hay On Wye and Brecon.

So if you fancy taking in the Hay Literary Festival or the Brecon Jazz Festival, we are very handily placed.

Please note that we cater for large groups as well as individuals, so even though our pub is in an isolated situation, on many weekends through out the year we can be a very busy and lively place !

On Friday & Saturday nights we have a late licence.
