The Courthouse (Henllys) is in one of the most enviable locations within the village of Betws-y-coed. Our guest house is set on a quiet road on the banks of the River Conwy in a lovely established garden yet within a few minutes walk of the village centre. The original building dates back to 1867 and used to be the local Magistrates Court and Police Station and has retained many of the original features including original jail cells. Every room is uniquely different and all are en-suite. . We have loads of private parking and secure bike storage.Free wi-fi is available throughout the house.
Breakfast is served in the garden breakfast room and made from locally sourced produce where available. A fresh fruit salad is prepared every morning. Our themed breakfast menu is extensive and include a vegetarian option (" The Defendent") Packed lunches and home made soup flasks are available, and are popular with walkers. There is nothing better than sitting in the garden breakfast room looking out at the river and hills whilst having a leisurely breakfast cooked to order.
All our bedrooms are en suite - some with baths. Some rooms have lovely views of the river Comwy and Mount Garmon. Each bedroom is individual and with names which reflect the heritage of the building such as 'Interrogation Room', 'Lawyers Room', 'Handcuff Room' and 'Fingerprint Room'. Four of our five rooms have superking or king size beds with memory foam mattresses. All our rooms come with tea/coffee making facilities with fruit teas/hot chocolate/biscuits, hair driers, radio alarm clocks, colour TV with Freeview and central heating. The whole house is double glazed. .
We have a reception area which houses an array of police helmets and cap badges collected over the years as well as the coat of arms. Please feel free to help yourself to a book/magazine or maybe a game. Your hosts Tanya and Richard would be happy to provide information, advice, books or maps as they have actively chosen to live here and have good knowledge of the surrounding area.
Our bed and breakfast is perfectly located being just a few minutes walk from the centre of the village, yet in a quiet position overlooking the river Conwy. There are lovely walks through the Gwydyr forest, its hills, valleys and lakes which start and finish in the village. Mount Snowdon is just 20 minutes drive and Portmeirion, Caernarfon Castle, Conwy Castle, Bodnant Garden, and the many little steam trains of Wales including the Ffestiniog Railway and Snowdon Mountain Railway are all within 30 minutes drive.
Lovely quiet riverside garden setting. Perfect for visiting all the attractions of Snowdonia.

'Great place to stay'
Had a great stay at The Courthouse. The owners went out of their way to make us very welcome. It was my partners birthday and they added a few extra special touches to make his birthday special. Our room was lovely, breakfast was great, all in all a perfect stay. Location was great. Thanks Richard & Tanya

'Excellent place'
The hotel was easy to find. We were greeted with afternoon tea from the owner. The room was lovely, big and clean. Beautiful views from the dining room. Breakfast was fantastic. Would definitely go again. November 2017
Best B and B ever in our long and many experiences
We booked The Courthouse after perusing "trip adviser" and stayed for 4 nights in late August 2015 From the moment we were greeted by Tanya who supplied tea and beautiful chocolate cake in the garden with view of the river we were impressed We stayed in the Lawyers Room large and very comfortable with fabulous view over the river just beneath the property Tanya and Richard have the highest standards in every possible way spotlessly clean to the smallest detail Tanya is a qualified chef so the breakfasts are prepared to your specific order and are presented to perfection. Breakfast room is a conservatory again with views and a pleasure to eat there and converse with other guests and Richard who has the perfect personality One could not ask for anything better and The Courthouse has now established the standard by which we will judge all other places we stay Tanya and Richard deserve continued success and we recommend pre booking as the standards will ensure few if any walk in vacancies Location is off main road very quiet yet only 2 or 3 minutes walk from the centre of Betws Y Coed. Best Bed and Breakfast ever !!!

"Highly Recommended"
We have just had a very pleasant 4 night stay at The Courthouse B&B. Richard was very helpful and very pleasant to his guests. We stayed from Thursday to Monday over the New Year period. After being out all day on New Years Eve, we returned to find a bottle of Proseco and 2 champagne flutes in our room. The choice at breakfast was amazing, We had the Fingerprint room and found it very comfortable. The added advantage is the private car park, as even at this time of year it is very difficult to park in Betws y Coed. Would recommend and definitely stay here again when in Wales

Myself and my husband have just had a 6 night stay at the courthouse.. We had a lovely welcome from Tanya & Richard along with complementary coffee and tasty cake!! Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable!! The other guests in the courthouse were very friendly which made breakfast very chatty and enjoyable but most of all was the fantastic breakfast.. There was a great selection and all was freshly cooked to your liking and always very tasty.. Both Richard and Tanya were always there should you need anything and Richard is great at recommending a good walk!!!! We will definitely be recommending courthouse to our friends and colleagues.. Looking forward to returning.. A very big thank you to you both for making us feel so welcome in a lovely warm and welcoming bed & breakfast.. 4th September, 2015
'Paradise in the welsh countryside'
The Courthouse B&B is a fantastic place to stay at a very affordable price, The building is an actual old courthouse converted into modern accommodation. I stayed in room 5 the old jailhouse section of the courthouse that was very comfortable. The owners are the nicest people you could ever wish to meet, very helpful and accommodating wherever they can be, The place is very clean and the food is the very highest standard. All of the guests were very friendly nice people that were a pleasure to be associated with.We look forward to returning there in the near future. 1st September, 2015
'Excellent!'
How the Courthouse is not a five star establishment I do not know. Everything was perfect and so clean in fact I have never stayed in such a clean b&b or hotel! The food was perfect as was the setting. The view from our bedroom (the Lawyer\'s Room) was breath-taking. I would recommend a stay here to anyone and I will definitely go back here the next time I am in Wales. 6th October, 2016
