Upper Middle Road Farm

We, Danny and Karen invite you to share our home in the quiet and beautiful landscape of Mid-Wales. We offer Bed & Breakfast with an optional evening meal followed by coffee. All the meals are freshly cooked with a Welsh flavour using mainly produce from the farm and garden. Interesting home cooked vegetarian meals are a speciality.

There are 2 rooms available for rent, a twin and a double, both en-suite.

Upper Middle Road Farm is located in Mid-Wales, equidistant between Hay on Wye, Brecon and Builth Wells. It is a working 5 acre Smallholding, set at 550 feet, above the Wye Valley.

The house is about 200 years old and was once a Wheelwright’s cottage. It has been extended and modernised to provide comfortable warm accommodation with central heating provided by carbon neutral log boiler and a log fire but still retains some of the exposed oak beams. Hot water is assisted by solar panels. In 2010 we have been shortlisted for the Future Friendly Family Award.

To the front are panoramic views of the Black Mountains sweeping around to the Brecon Beacons. Although quiet, the house is not totally isolated. The village of Boughrood (pronounced Bockrood) is less than a gentle one mile walk and Llyswen is across the bridge spanning the River Wye.

We have one double bedroom with wash basin, toilet and private bathroom and one twin bedded room en-suite.

Fruit juice, home baked organic bread and cereal selection together with a choice from:

Welsh Laverbread cakes, scrambled egg, tomatoes and bacon (V)

Home made Glamorgan sausages, with caramelised apple compote or our own Gardeners Delight tomatoes, and scrambled egg.

Marmite Fritters, mushrooms & our own tomatoes

Crepes filled with egg, cheese and tomato

Full English Breakfast (i.e. sausage and bacon from Brian George our local butcher) our own fresh eggs, our own tomatoes and mushrooms) or Vegetarian choice (V)

Jumbo Oat Porridge served with Black Treacle, Honey or Muscovado sugar

We also do Evening meals with prior arrangement and freshly prepared where possible from our own organic produce or locally sourced items.
