Penylan (top of the hill) has wonderful views and, in fact, a view can be seen of the famous Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club. Accommodation is housed in former granary and rooms have many thoughtful extras which include down duvets and pure welsh wool blankets to make your stay with us extra

For breakfast we serve a choice of fresh fruit, free range eggs from the farm, locally produced meat from the award winning butcher in Monmouth and homemade preserves.special.

We are only 5 miles from the medieval, bustling town of Monmouth with its quality shops and are skirted by the beautiful Wye Valley and Black Mountains/Brecon Beacons.

Penylan meaning top of the parish, was originally part of the historic Hendre Estate, home of the famous Rolls family. Charles Stewart Rolls, co-founder of Rolls Royce and famous aviator is buried in the local parish church, Llangattock-vibon-Avel. His statue can be found in Agincourt Square in Monmouth together with the statue of Henry V who was born in Monmouth Castle. For more information visit the Nelson Museum.

Once you have recharged your batteries there are plenty of activities locally including water sports on the River Wye which was voted the public’s favourite river in England and Wales or cycle the ‘Peregrine Trail’ alongside the Wye to Symonds Yat.
For walkers the famous ‘Offa’s Dyke’ path and ‘Three Castles Walk’ are both approximately two miles away.
Complete a perfect day with a visit to one of our many superb country restaurants and hostelries for which our area is renowned. Monmouthshire has recently been named the top food destination in Wales. You will be spoilt for choice!
